What is a payment link and how does it work?
A payment link lets you send a secure payment page to your customer by email, text, or in an invoice for example. The customer simply clicks the link and pays online using a secure payment page which you can customise with your logo and branding. No website, no card machine or special equipment required.
Who or what are payment links for?
Payment links could be useful for businesses that need to accept payments when the customer isn't present. For example, clearing invoices, taking deposits, and Business-to-Business (B2B) payments to name a few, allowing customers to pay remotely at a time that suits them.
Do my customers need an account or app to pay?
No. Customers can pay using their web browser with a debit or credit card or a supported digital wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, no registration or app is needed. They click a link, enter their payment information and you get paid.
Is it secure to take payments using a payment link?
Yes. payment link transactions are securely processed via a PCI‑compliant payment page. You never see or store the customer’s card details, and the customer is automatically prompted for 3D Secure authentication for fraud prevention when payment takes place.
Can I track payments and send refunds?
Yes. You can see when a payment has been made by setting up notifications and you can manage refunds in your virtual terminal. You can also run and extract reports, view transactional history in your customer portal.
